"Without a vision the people perish."  FDR, 1st Inaugural

April 9th Notice to Supporters- Withdrawal of Candidacy,

I am withdrawing my candidacy for Supervisor for District 1 and supporting John Leopold for the following reasons:  1.  Of all the other candidates, he is the most qualified.  2.  John's skill sets, knowledge of the community, and youth will be those needed for the difficult financial period ahead.  3.  John has the political connections necessary to garner needed resources. 4.  John and I share similar values and goals for the County.

Over the past three months, I have met a number of dedicated and thoughtful citizens who are deeply involved in the life of  the community.  For myself this experience has been very stimulating and educational.  I have learned a great deal about Santa Cruz County and have a much deeper understanding and appreciation for the unique character of our place.

This decision was not easy.  I have enjoyed the process but recognize my continuing might threaten the goals I feel most important for the County.  I thank all those who have helped me in this campaign and I look forward to contributing in other ways.
